Teacher Trainer Adventures: Memories at Paddington Station

As I stood amidst the hustle and bustle of Paddington Station, memories flooded back as I remembered the time I spent crafting my first-ever course in the charming city of Oxford.

In the gentle hum of the station, I recalled the beginnings of my journey as an ELT writer. It was here, amidst the timeless architecture and the rhythmic departure announcements, that the foundation for my career as an ELT writer and teacher trainer was laid.

Each corner of Paddington held fragments of my dedication and passion for teaching and training. From the quiet corners where ideas blossomed to the bustling cafes where concepts took shape, every nook was a testament to the journey of growth and learning.

As the train awaited, I couldn’t help but draw parallels between those early writing days and the art of teaching and training. Oxford, with its timeless charm, served as the backdrop for my creative endeavours. The cobbled streets and historic architecture were not just picturesque scenes but also the inspiration for lessons that aimed to captivate and engage language learners. As I journeyed back to those days, I can’t help but marvel at the growth and transformation that both I and the field of English language teaching have undergone.

Reflecting on those early experiences, I am reminded of the passion that fuelled my writing and training efforts. The challenges faced while designing that first course have become stepping stones, guiding me through decades of teaching and mentoring. It’s incredible how those initial struggles and triumphs shaped not just my career, but also my approach towards empowering teachers worldwide.

With Paddington’s timeless allure fading into the distance, the echoes of my early ELT writing days lingered, reminding me that every journey begins with a single step. So, here’s to Paddington, a station that witnessed the birth of ideas, lessons, and a commitment to excellence in ELT.

As the train departs for Oxford, I eagerly anticipate the next chapter in this adventure – a blend of fond reminiscence and the excitement of what lies ahead in the world of teaching, writing  and training.
